Transcript: YVETTE PARRISH: "Hi! I am Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner, and how to get that pretty smoky look. There are basically three types of eyeliner you can use. You can use a cake eyeliner, which is in a powder form. The cake eyeliner, you will have to wet your brush and apply it with a brush, and you put it on the top line. That is a cake eyeliner. Old faithful, which everybody’s seen, which is the pencil; you can use it. I do not like to sharpen it super, super, super sharp, because it kind of hurts when you put it on, and the line is too skinny. So make sure when you have your pencil, keep it a little bit nubby, I think it works a little bit better. There are also liquid liners. They come water-resistant, every color, every b... (read more)

Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner and how to get that pretty smoky look. If you have a smudge, whether it is eye shadow sprinkles, or a little bit of a smudge from mascara, a really great thing to do, I am telling you these sponges act like a little eraser. You can put a little bit of foundation on your hand right here, or somewhere else, grab a little bit of foundation on your sponge, and now it acts as an eraser. You can erase any little mistakes that you make, nice and neatly with a sponge, so do not dry to wipe it with your finger, do not try to smudge it off like this. You are going to make a big mess. Take your sponge, grab a little bit of foundation; and see, the sponge is so flexible, you really can get as close as tight as y... (read more)

Transcript: YVETTE PARRISH: "Hi! I am Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner and the different styles of eyeliner. What we are going to do now is do some eyeliner; and I have a unique way to apply eyeliner. I take my pointy brush and I got it wet. I dipped it in a little water. I squeeze out the excess water. I am going to use a black eye shadow, and I am going to apply liner on her eye. It will have the same effect as a liquid liner, but you will have more control, because you are using a brush. So we noticed I am slightly lifting up her eye, because I want to get it as close to her eyelashes as possible. I am gong to grab a little bit more, and I am just using a black. This is kind of a sparkly black, but you can use a flat black eye shadow and just wet your brush, and you can make your o... (read more)

Transcript: YVETTE PARRISH: "Hi! I am Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner and how to get that pretty smoky look. There are many different eyeliners. You can use the powder form, like I am using, and most professional make-up artists like to use this form, but you can also do a pencil, a pencil is fine. You can sharpen the pencil and apply that as well. There is also liquid eyeliner that usually comes in a little tube like this, and you will have a little wand on it and you can apply like that. Any time you use a liquid liner, it is going to be more dramatic. So I want the smoothness of a liquid for her, for my model; I just do not want the drama of it. So that is why I chose a powder, because I like ... (read more)

YVETTE PARRISH: "Hi! I am Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner and how to get that pretty smoky look. I am going to take the same black that I used. This time I did not wet the brush. It is dry, and I am going to grab a little bit more black…look up…and I am going to apply it underneath. Very skinny; it is very important that you have a small brush…see how small this brush is…because you do not a great big giant line back here. I just want a nice gentle look; and that way it just brings out her natural beauty. You can use a chocolate brown, something that will match your hair color. I use black typically, the darker your hair and the darker the eyebrows, the darker the liner that is more appropriate.... (read more)

Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner and how to get that pretty smoky look. I think it may be a habit-forming now, but I do think that doing it on the top line is a better start. I think it is a little bit more organized in a way; you get to see how your whole eye shadow on your eye is looking if you apply the top. Now I did a little bit of black on the bottom. Now I am going back to that original brown that I used for her eyebrows, remember, and I am going to take a little bit of that brown…look up…and I am going to just put it in the corners…look up, thank you. Just for a little bit of something special, I am going to take a hunter green…look up…and I am going to apply this in her corners, just to give her some umph…look up, thank you."

Transcript: YVETTE PARRISH: "Hi! I am Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner and how to get that pretty smoky look. So it really depends what is easier for you. If you like a pencil, if you like to apply it with a brush, if you like a liquid…but know that the liquid is the most drama of all types of eyeliner. Pencil is the most common. If you have a nice and soft pencil, you can take your brush, and you can grab the color on the brush and apply it that way. I really recommend brushes, because you have a lot of control when you are applying make-up when you have a brush; and when you have a pencil you notice you do not have that much control. The pencil is kind of fat, you kind of make a mess, and you can be all over the place; and you are not going to get a really... (read more)

Transcript: YVETTE PARRISH: "Hi! I am Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at expertvillage.com. Today, I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner and how to get that pretty smoky look. The smaller the brush, the smaller the area you are working on. For example, if you want to fill in the eyebrow right here, then use a tiny brush, because I want to fill in a tiny area. You do not want to use a big brush, boom, Groucho Marx eyebrows you know, we do not want to do that. So the smaller the area, the smaller size brush. So, if I am going to apply eyeliner then I want a skinny brush, if I am dusting the whole eye then I can take a large brush. So kind of think about the area that you are working on; and if you only want to fill in a little part of the brow, then just get a tiny little brush and fill that in, and you can get brushes from a... They have some that are sponge tipped, there are some that are made out of brushes, brush bristles. This one kind of is a sponge tip. This is one of my favorite eyeliners, and I am going to apply…here you hold the base… thank you ma’am…and I am going to apply it very close to her lashes. And I am lifting up her eye, see I am kind of lifting it up ever so gently, so that way I can get under there. I want to be able to get as close to her lash line as possible…okay, open…and what that does—eyeliner is really supposed to make your eyelashes look thicker. So that is what I am trying to do; I am really basing doing this so ... (read more)

Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner and how to get that pretty smoky look on her eye rim…because this is going to enhance the drama. And this is a very, very soft pencil; do not sharpen it too much, because you just kind of scratch your client; so I like to have a little bit of nub on my pencil. I do not like to have it sharp; I like a sharp, sharp lip liner, but not a sharp eyeliner, and this immediately will start giving it a dramatic look. Dramatic look is so much fun, have fun with it. You can use a navy blue liner, an indigo blue or a hunter green would be beautiful. This is called black diamond. You can use something like that. It has got a little shimmer to it or a chocolate brown. So it really is endless what color... (read more)

Not just cool like “cool, neato,” I mean cool as in summer, fall, winter, this is a cool color. I am going to take a little bit of the blue, and I am going to go over that black with that, like I guess it is kind of a navy blue; and that will soften the black liner that still give her drama. YVETTE PARRISH: "Hi! I am Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner and how to get that pretty smoky look. The proper way to clean eyeliners is a couple of different things. First you can sharpen it, but make sure your sharpener is clean. You can spray a 70% alcohol on your pencil sharpener, so when you sharpen the pencil, the sharpener itself is sanitized; because if you are sharpening it to get it cleaned and you are using a dirty sharpener, you are defeating the purpose. Or you can get I like these little alcohol prep pads, and they are 70% alcohol, and you can always clean them, this way. You can grab a new prep and you can clean your different pencils as well, and then you can throw the prep away, so that is a really good way to clean them; but make sure you c... (read more)

Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner and how to get that pretty smoky look. When you get your picture taken, and you want to do your make-up extra special, remember when the camera hits your face with that flash it is going to remove photographically 50% of your make-up. So you are going to have to apply it 50% more than you normally would. Which means, if you use a chocolate eyeliner, go ahead and wear black for your pictures, because once the flash hits it, it is going to look brown. If you start off with your normal make-up and you get your picture taken, it is going to look bare in the pictures. So you have to remember at least 50% more. I put a 100% more, so that way in the pictures you are extra looking good, you know but ... (read more)
